The Strait of Messina Bridge is not a public work. It is yet another trap, a scheme to steal billions, destroy families, territory, jobs, and culture. We of Sicilia Indipendente say NO. We don’t want connections imposed by Rome—we want freedom.
A History of Deceit: Ghost Projects and Stolen Billions
Every time the State promises great works, only devastation reaches the South:
- Sarno Channel Project: 501 billion lire (about 259 million euros) burned for nothing. The project remains incomplete. No one was jailed.
- MOSE in Venice: 35 arrests but no convictions for mafia-related crimes. Officially, “the typical mafia elements were lacking.” The truth? They can’t admit that the North has mafia ties, or the myth of a clean power center collapses.
- Sicily? Countless half-finished infrastructures that, even altogether, don’t match the scale of a single Northern fraud.
- Milan’s Expo: billions invested, corrupt contracts, systemic bribery. No real accountability—just clean faces on TV.
Destruction Disguised as Development
The Bridge will cost lives, jobs, and territory:
- 4,500 families in Messina will be displaced, and hundreds more in Calabria.
- Thousands of ferry workers will lose their jobs.
- The landscape of the Strait of Messina, considered by many the most beautiful in the world, will be obliterated.
- Marine currents, biodiversity, culture, and the spiritual essence of the area will be devastated.
And then? They’ll use the project to loot billions, only to stop it by citing “seismic risks and strong currents.” As always.
Meanwhile, Sicilians die daily on roads riddled with potholes fit for motocross, not civil transit. To travel just 270 km by train (about 167 miles) takes 12 hours. And they dare claim the bridge will bring tourism?
Dividing from Italy will bring more tourists than all of Europe combined, just by eliminating the false propaganda that paints Sicily as a land of mafia and danger. The truth is, in the North, not even armored doors protect you anymore: people wake to find their women raped and men beaten—if not sent straight to the cemetery with a one-way ticket.
Salvini: The Face of Fraud
Matteo Salvini, already convicted of stealing 49 million euros (to be repaid over 80 years), made these promises:
- First 120,000 jobs,
- Then 40,000,
- Then 20,000,
- Then 10,000.
A butterfly-chasing liar and certified thief. And now he poses as Sicily’s savior? If he were a common Sicilian, his family’s assets would’ve been seized, as happens to those without political protection.
If they now avoid punishment by repaying 49 million over 80 years, what will happen when hundreds of billions are spent (and stolen) for the Strait Bridge? If convicted, it would take at least 800 years to recover the funds.
And the real question is: How can an honest people trust those who never stopped stealing—but only lost their sense of shame? In a system where the thief no longer hides but simply raises the value of the heist, the people aren’t just victims—they’re hostages.
Meloni, Salvini and Their Misguided Courtship of America
With Meloni the Befana, they attempt to salvage themselves politically by flattering Trump and his vice president J.D. Vance, forgetting that in America, those who betray their people are shunned, not rewarded.
The United States respects those loyal to their people—not those who oppress them through criminal policy.
The Bridge Will Break Families, Jobs, and Beauty
Let’s not forget the real damage:
- 4,500 families evicted in Messina, with similar numbers in Calabria.
- Thousands of jobs lost in maritime transport.
- Environmental, scenic, and cultural destruction.
A scandal that will be halted after billions are stolen, under the guise of earthquakes and currents.
Bridge of Lies, Chain of Oppression
We of Sicilia Indipendente want a Sicily that is free, honest, and hardworking.
We don’t want the bridge: we want to break the chain that has oppressed us since 1861.
Sicilia Indipendente: more than a bridge—it’s time for liberation.
