Don’t Let the Italian People Know: The True Insignificance of Italian Politicians, America’s Waiters

February 26, 2025 –CORIOLANO DELLA FORESTA.

The Italian Armistice of 1943:
Italian Military Armistice, September 3, 1943
Fairfield Camp, Sicily
September 3, 1943

The following armistice conditions are presented by General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied forces, acting on behalf of the United Nations:

  • Immediate cessation of all hostile activities by the Italian armed forces.
  • Italy will do everything possible to deny the Germans access to facilities that could be used against the United Nations.
  • All prisoners or internees of the United Nations will be immediately handed over to the Allied Commander-in-Chief, and none may be transferred to Germany.
  • The Italian navy and air force will be immediately transferred to locations designated by the Allied Commander-in-Chief and will be disarmed as per his instructions.
  • Italian merchant ships may be requisitioned by the Allied Commander-in-Chief to meet military-naval program needs.
  • Corsica and all Italian territories, both islands and mainland, will be immediately ceded to the Allies for use as they see fit.
  • The Allies will have unrestricted use of all Italian ports and airports, regardless of German troop withdrawal. These must be protected by Italian armed forces until they are taken over by the Allies.
  • Italian armed forces must immediately withdraw from the current war in all areas where they are engaged.
  • The Italian government will ensure the deployment of all available forces to guarantee the precise and timely fulfillment of all armistice clauses.
  • The Allied Commander-in-Chief reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect Allied interests and continue the war, and the Italian government commits to executing any required orders.
  • The Allied Commander-in-Chief will have full authority to impose measures for disarmament, demobilization, and demilitarization.
  • Further political, economic, and financial conditions will be communicated later.

📌 Can Italy Negotiate on Behalf of Third Parties, Like in the Ukraine-Russia Case?

1️⃣ The Unlimited Armistice of 1943 and Its Consequences

The Cassibile Armistice (September 8, 1943) was an unconditional surrender of Italy to the Allies, with no time limits.
In the Paris Peace Treaty (1947), Italy agreed to no longer have an offensive army and to abide by foreign policy restrictions, limiting its diplomatic influence.

2️⃣ Italy’s Role in the Post-War Era and Today

After World War II, Italy rebuilt its international reputation by joining NATO (1949) and the European Community (now the EU).
However, Italy’s political weight in global geopolitical decisions has remained secondary, as major powers (USA, Russia, China, and the EU as a whole) dominate global diplomacy.

3️⃣ Can Italy Mediate Between Ukraine and Russia?

Italy does not have enough independent political weight to be a key mediator between Russia and Ukraine.
Peace negotiations are led by the USA, the EU (as a bloc), the UN, Turkey, and China.
Italy can participate in diplomatic initiatives within the EU or NATO, but it cannot act as an independent negotiator on behalf of third parties.

🔴 Conclusion

Due to its historical past and current international role, Italy does not have the power to negotiate directly for third parties in major global conflicts like the Ukraine-Russia war. It can participate as part of NATO and the EU but cannot act independently, as the USA or China do.
This proves that, despite the time that has passed since the 1943 armistice, Italy continues to have a limited diplomatic role in major geopolitical decisions.

Sicily and Italy: A Forced Relationship?

Given all of this, one may ask: what is the point of Sicily remaining part of an Italy that has no voice on the international stage?
If Italy is merely an executor of the USA and NATO’s will, why should Sicily—with its history and strategic position in the Mediterranean—remain tied to a government that cannot even decide for itself?

Perhaps it is time to rethink Sicily’s position—not as a mere Italian region, but as an autonomous entity with its own destiny in the international arena.

Never before have the winds been so favorable for us Sicilians to break away from an Italy that constantly holds anti-mafia demonstrations and arrests, yet for the people, the real mafia is the state itself, which provides no services while imposing heavy taxation on the Sicilian people.
