Zelensky, Tensions with the United States and the Risk of a Third World War
This morning, an incident further strained relations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the United States. After days of negotiations, Zelensky traveled to the White House, but his attitude once again demonstrated his refusal to engage in any peace negotiations. President Donald Trump, who is doing everything possible to prevent a global war, firmly responded, making it clear that Ukraine is not in a winning position and that Zelensky should stop fueling the conflict, put aside his deep hatred for Putin that makes peace difficult, and adopt a more diplomatic approach.
Zelensky and His War Policy
While Trump is seeking peace, Zelensky continues to be hostile toward Russia and seeks new support to prolong the war. For years, with the support of the previous Biden-Harris administration, he received massive military aid and maintained a provocative stance toward Moscow, contributing to the escalation of the conflict. His continued refusal to negotiate could lead to the total destruction of his country and an even broader war. He has already sacrificed more than a million young Ukrainian soldiers and nearly the same number of Russian soldiers—young men who could have built a future, had a family, and lived a normal life. Instead, they were sent to die in an endless war that he himself continues to fuel.
The former Biden-Harris administration supported the war in Ukraine by sending weapons and threatening Putin, which resulted in Russia’s attack three years ago. Zelensky has often claimed to be in a winning position, stating that Russia could be defeated with little effort and additional resources, while in reality, the situation on the ground is very different.
The Heated Confrontation in the Oval Office
Zelensky, visibly annoyed by Vice President Vance’s intervention, raised his voice and aggressively replied: “Have you ever set foot in Ukraine to say what problems we have?”
Vance, unshaken, responded firmly: “I am talking about diplomacy that can put an end to the destruction of your country. With all due respect, it is disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to discuss this in front of the American media. Your army has recruitment problems and forces inexperienced young men to fight. You should be thanking President Trump for trying to end this conflict.”
At that point, President Trump intervened again, cutting off Zelensky, saying: “Don’t tell us what we will feel, we are trying to solve a problem. You are not in a position to dictate conditions. The United States has supported Ukraine more than anyone else, but now you must show respect. If you continue with this attitude, you will no longer have our support.”
Zelensky, attempting to defend himself, responded: “During the war, everyone has problems, even you. It’s just that you have an ocean and don’t feel anything yet, but you will feel it in the future.”
Trump, visibly irritated, immediately replied: “You cannot tell us what we will feel. We are trying to solve a problem, while you are gambling with the lives of millions of people and risking World War III. You are in a position of weakness, and without our help, this conflict would have already ended.”
Vice President Vance then pressed further: “How dare you come into the Oval Office and make such statements in front of so many journalists? You should be thanking President Trump, who is trying to negotiate peace, while you continue to show that you do not want it. Furthermore, you have issues with military recruitment: your young soldiers are fleeing. You are not in a winning position and should let President Trump work on this peace negotiation.”
Europe on the Brink
History teaches that Europe has already experienced two world wars in the 20th century. Today, with increasing military involvement and escalating tensions with Russia, the question arises: is the third coming?
Germany and France, in particular, are proving to be the main proponents of a hardline stance against Moscow, risking dragging the entire continent into a nuclear war. If Russia were to respond with its strategic weapons, Europe might not survive for long.
The Role of Sicily: Independence and Neutrality
Faced with this dangerous scenario, what could be the solution for Sicily? The Sicilia Indipendente movement proposes two strategies to ensure the island’s security:
- Immediately declare independence and assume a position of neutrality to avoid being drawn into a global war.
- Consider a strategic alliance with the United States, ensuring protection and stability without being dragged into European conflicts.
Thanks to its strategic geographical position, Sicily could become a safe haven, far from the madness of European leaders who seem intent on leading the world toward a new global disaster. The time to act is now: Sicily must choose between being dragged into a conflict imposed by others or taking control of its own destiny.
The future of Sicily depends on the choices we make today.
